Vegetation Index
The Vegetation Index product will use comparisons between the visible and near-infrared spectrum reflectances of cloud-free pixels. This comparison is known as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The NDVI is used as to measure the state of vegetation. Forecasters will be able to use this product to monitor vegetation within the GOES-R domain, identifying changes in vegetative activity and health.
