The GOES-R Space Environment In-Situ Suite (SEISS) will include magnetic energetic ion sensors for both low and high energy levels. The highest energy particles given by this product will overlap the lowest energies given in the Solar and Galactic Protons product, so some of the effects mentioned there are also applicable to this product.  Likelihood of damage to items such as unshielded solar cells peaks in the energy range measured by this instrument.  Such damage can drastically shorten a satellite’s lifetime.
