December

The Ground Segment Project (GSP) and Core Ground System (GS) prime contractor Harris Corporation successfully completed the Product Generation (PG) element Preliminary Design Review (PDR) in Melbourne, FL.
   
The GLM instrument completed its systems Critical Design Review (CDR).
   
The spacecraft completed the final subsystems PDRs with the Command and Data Handling (C&DH) and Flight Software reviews.
   
The GOES-R System Program Director (SPD) announced that the Lead for Program System Engineering (PSE), Barbara Pfarr, is leaving the GOES-R Program to take on a new assignment as the PSE for NASA's Earth Science Program, Code 420. Replacing her as the GOES-R PSE Lead is Edward (Ed) Grigsby.
   
Lockheed Martin Space Systems Corps (LMSSC) conducted the Communications & Mechanical subsystem Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) this week.
   
The Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) System Critical Design Review (CDR) dry-run was held at Lockheed Martin in Palo Alto, CA this week and the Spacecraft Electrical Subsystem Preliminary Design Review (PDR) was held at Lockheed Martin in Newtown, PA.

The Ground Segment Project (GSP) and Core GS Prime Contractor, Harris Corporation, completed the Closeout Software Requirements Review (SWRR), the culmination of 18 separate SWRRs that started in late July.
   
Algorithm Review Executive Board (ADEB) delivered the final report on baseline Level 2+ algorithms. The ADEB recommends releasing the Algorithm Theoretical Basis Documents (ATBD) to the GS.

The GOES-R Core Ground System and Antenna Project Management Status Reviews (PMSRs) were held at General Dynamics in Richardson, TX on October 25th & 26th.
   
The Algorithm Working Group (AWG) successfully completed the closeout Algorithm Readiness Review (ARR) for all the Baseline products and the 100% Algorithm Theoretical Basis Documents (ATBD)

The GOES-R Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) Algorithm Working Group (AWG) team received a 2010 NASA Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS) Software Reuse Working Group Peer-Recognition Software Reuse Award for their development of GLM Level 2 ground processing software under an accelerated delivery schedule to deliver working/tested code on time and within budget by drawing upon heritage Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) processing software.
   
The GOES-R Air Quality Proving Ground kicked-off its users and advisory group workshop at the University of Maryland Baltimore County on September 14, 2010.

The GOES-R Program System Definition Review (SDR) was successfully conducted June 28-30 at GOES-R’s facilities at Goddard Space Flight Center.
   
•  GOES-R Awards Ceremony was held June 25.
   
The Space Environment In-Situ Suite (SEISS) Critical Design Review (CDR) was successfully held June 14-18 at Assurance Technology Corporation (ATC) in Carlisle, MA.

The GOES-R Algorithm Working Group (AWG) Annual Meeting was held in Madison, Wisconsin from June 7-11.
   
The Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) Proto-Type Model (PTM) completed Radiated Susceptibility (RS) testing, Limited Performance Testing (LPT) and Radiated Emissions (RE) testing with a single cryocooler operating.
   
The Annual GOES-R Proving Ground Meeting was held May 18-19 in Boulder, CO.

The GOES-R Independent Review Team (IRT) met May 20-21 and assessed the GOES-R Program's baseline budget, schedule, technical requirements, and identified outstanding risks in these areas. Additionally, the IRT assessed the readiness of the program to implement spacecraft options for GOES-T and GOES-U. The preliminary analysis rated the GOES-R Program as "GREEN"
   
Spacecraft Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) completed on April 27, 2010.
   
Ground System Design Review (SDR) rated GREEN.
   
 

April

The GOES-R Program conducted the Project Management Status Review (PMSR) from March 30 – April 1 at the Harris Customer Briefing Center (CBC) in Melbourne, FL. The PMSR brought together the primary instrument, Ground Segment, and flight contractors who presented their current technical and programmatic status to the assembled Federal managers and staff.

The GOES-R Spacecraft Team successfully completed the spacecraft System Design Review (SDR) at GSFC.
   
The GOES-R Ground Segment Project (GSP) Performance Evaluation Board (PEB) held their first meeting to evaluate the performance of Harris Corporation during the first Award Fee period.
   
 

March

The ABI Proto-Type Model (PTM) Pre-Environmental Review was successfully completed at ITT in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
   
Ground Segment Project personnel and their Harris team counterparts conducted a five-day Core Ground Segment Element System Requirements Review/System Design Review dry run. The teams reviewed more than 1,500 presentation pages covering Enterprise Management, Mission Management, Product Generation, Product Distribution, and Infrastructure.
